Newsletter for the week of March 19, 2018
This week we will read, Gloria Who Might Be My Best Friend. This is a realistic fiction story. Spelling focus is homonyms so the students will really have to know the meanings that go with the spellings (ie. meet/meat). Our target skill is understanding characters. In writing we will write "how to" paragraphs as well as compare and contrast writing. We will be working on graphs this week in math. Please continue to help your child tell time to the 5 minute at home. In Religion, we will learn about Holy Communion and the meaning of the word reverence. We also will discuss Jesus' baptism.
Coming home this Wednesday again, will be sacrificial giving student envelopes. If you are inclined, have your student return them for Thursday's Mass. This is not required, but if students have a spare coin or two to donate, that is a good way to teach them stewardship/almsgiving skills. If they are unable to send in a coin, they can fill out the front of the envelope and write down how they spent time in prayer. We also are collecting coins for our Rice Bowl. When Lent is over, we will donate our funds to Catholic Relief Services. (CRS)
A special thanks to everyone who helped with the auction. I know some of you attended, others helped with procurement, donations, decorations, and served on committees. It really takes a village to have a succesful fundraiser of this size!
The 7th grade students are collecting baby items for Two Hearts Pregnancy Aid, a local resource center to help pregnant women. The following items are being collected until March 28:
new clothes or gently used size NB-5T
infant and toddler furniture and supplies
bottles and pacifiers
maternity clothing and supplies
March 22 at 6:30 p.m. in our gym, will be the steakholder's meeting. It will contain important information about next school year as well as an update on our Accreditation, MAP Assessment and more. It is imperative that at least one member from each family attend to hear this important information from the school staff and administration, the school commission and parish administration.
Report cards will go home this Friday, March 23. Please return the envelope Monday, March 26.
Have a great week.
