Newsletter for the week of October 16, 2017
This week we will read Animals Building Homes, an informational story story. The spelling focus is on words with final consonant blends as in next . We will also work on text features and more plural nouns. In math we will work on more complex comparison bar story problems, two-step story problems, and a review of all the different story problems we've had in unit one. We will have a test on unit one early next week. We begin the week in science with a review of what we've covered in the first 8 lessons. Then tomorrow there will be a quiz. Tonight they need to study for the test by reviewing the study guide we completed together today. In Religion this week we will review and test on chapter 3, God's Word. The Religion tests are always open note tests. We will be finishing the unit and test on Wednesday. Thursday's religion lesson will be the lesson that you received notice from Mrs. Wartelle about "Protecting God's Children". The main focus of this lesson is to discuss trusting adults we know well, and not trusting others. I will also discuss with them about secrets. If we are making a secret mother's day card for you as a surprise, that is completely different than a stranger telling us to keep a secret. The lesson will go well and I don't anticipate any issues. Usually the students are very good listeners and make good conversation during these lessons. The other lesson will be in March.
Nathan is our Student of the Week. Today we looked at his poster. We look forward to learning more about him this week.
Last week Rose had her birthday on Friday, however she was sick at home. Delicious cupcakes came to school and we sent her a video of us singing to her. Today, we said our special birthday prayer over her.
Captain Eagle from the Marysville Fire Department came and spoke with K, 1, and 2 classrooms last Friday. It was a very informative presentation and I think the students learned a lot. I have posted two photos on the "photos" tab on my website.
Please send in any adult men or women socks for the 8th grade service project which runs through the end of the month. The socks will be donated to Mercy Watch.
Please make sure that if your child is receiving First Communion in May, that you've sent in your registration form and baptismal certificate.
Please mark your calendars for the Stakeholder's meeting on Thursday, October 19 at 6:30 p.m. in the gym. There will be NO robotics this Thursday.
Have a great week!
